Your child’s first haircut is an important milestone! Choose a salon that knows how to deal with squirmy clients. DooLittlez offers a safe and fun environment to make the first haircut experience memorable and comfortable. Our experienced team of stylists is specially trained to work with the littlest customers.
First Haircut package includes:
a souvenir card with your child’s name, the date of the haircut, a lock of hair, and a picture so your family can look back on this day and smile.
We offer cute cars for your child to sit in and each station has a TV playing cartoons to distract your little one.
The waiting area at DooLittlez is filled with books, toys and a large train table to make your child’s experience a fun one.
You might think your child’s first trip to the salon is the cutest ever, but they won’t see it that way. Strange surroundings, new people, and big scissors can cause a major anxiety attack for some kids. But getting those little bangs trimmed doesn’t have to be hair-raising, as long as you plan it properly.

PREP FOR YOUR CHILD’S HAIRCUT
A haircut is a new experience for your child, so you should prepare yourself. Your child will most likely be apprehensive so be prepared for tears. Interestingly, many times it’s the parents who are more scared than their child is! Here’s some advice on having a fuss-free and positive experience:

Bring your child to the salon a few days before the appointment. Let them play at the train table and become acquainted with the environment without getting a haircut. This way when you arrive for your appointment, your child will be familiar with the surroundings.

Bring an extra shirt in case they don’t want to wear a cape. The cut off hair can be extremely itchy on bare skin.

Pick a time that is good for your child; not nap time, snack time, or that cranky hour in-between.

At DooLittlez, children can sit in one of our fun cars and watch a video of their choice. We supply lollipops, toys and books to help distract your child.

Don’t tell your child they will be getting a “cut.” That sounds like a boo-boo. The word “cut” can be scary. Instead say “trim” or “style.”

Use fun nicknames for the equipment. For instance, “wind machine” for the blow dryer or “Mr. Tickle” for the trimmers. This helps the child to be less afraid of the noise.

Mom and Dad…remember to relax! If you are nervous or overly emotional, your child will pick up on it. As mentioned earlier, a child’s first haircut is often harder for the parents than it is for the child.

If your child is having a hard time sitting in the styling chair or the car or fussing, let him or her sit on your lap during the haircut.
The more fun you can make the trip to the salon, the better! Follow these simple tips for your child’s first, second, third haircut or however many it takes until getting a haircut is easy peazy!

LICE POLICY
DooLittlez is a LICE-FREE ZONE
DooLittlez follows state guidelines so we can’t do lice treatments or cut your child’s hair until both lice and nits are gone. We do offer lice treatment kits and lice prevention products, and our knowledgeable stylists will gladly talk you through the instructions and answer any of your questions.
To ensure we remain a lice-free zone, we routinely screen everyone for lice before every haircut.
